File 2022-1238:  A wanted man was arrested while hiding in a basement of an abandoned home thanks to tips from the public.

On March 9, 2022, just prior to 11 am, Port Moody Police front line officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious man who appeared to be casing homes near the 900 block of Clarke Road, Port Moody.

Officers located the suspect who has since unlawfully entered a nearby abandoned home.  The man was arrested in the basement of the home, attempting to elude police.  He was also believed to be in possession of break-in tools and stolen goods at the time of the arrest.  It was determined the man had active arrest warrants from three Lower Mainland police agencies – relating to numerous property and driving-related offences.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing and the investigation continues.
