FILE:  2022-1501  – A suspicious car fire has left an innocent bystander with serious injuries.

On March 26, 2022 at about 3:50 pm, Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) and Port Moody Fire Rescue were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 2200 block of Hope St., Port Moody.

Upon arrival, first responders located a man with serious injuries resulting from an explosion of the vehicle.  Firefighters extinguished the fire shortly after.  The man was transported to hospital by paramedics and remains in stable condition at this time.  The burnt vehicle is believed to be the suspect vehicle in a shooting that occurred in Coquitlam just minutes prior.

PMPD’s Major Crime Section is investigating this arson incident, working closely with partners at Coquitlam RCMP.  “We are looking for any dash camera footage, CCTV or witnesses in the area to contact us and quote file number 2022-1501” states Constable Sam Zacharias.  For information on the Coquitlam incident including suspect vehicle information please visit their website:
