On February 3, 2021 at approximately 1200 hours, members of the Port Moody Police Department, along with Port Moody Fire and EHS paramedics, attended Reed Point Marina in response to a report of a drowned male.

A 74 year old Burnaby man had gone down to his boat to prepare for a fishing trip with friends. Evidence observed at the scene indicated that the male had slipped on an algae covered deck surface, striking his head on the dock as he fell into the water.

Efforts to revive the male by EHS and PMFD personnel were unsuccessful.

Personal details of the victim will not be released out of respect for his family.
