Firefighters have responded to three suspicious Heritage Mountain fires in as many days and police are now probing the incidents.

On the mornings of October 8, 9 and 10, 2022, Port Moody Fire Rescue responded to and extinguished small brush fires on trails near Forest Park Way and Cliffwood Drive. All three fires are believed to be connected as well as human-caused. Port Moody Police are investigating the incidents and are seeking information from the public.

“We are asking area residents to be extra vigilant right now and police are increasing patrols to the area” states Constable Sam Zacharias, media relations officer. “Anyone with information is asked to contact us or alternatively contact Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.”

“The fire danger rating is extreme at the moment” states Lieutenant Jeff Scallion of Port Moody Fire Rescue. “Incidents like these are very concerning and we ask anyone who observes a fire to call 9-1-1 immediately”.
