On April 4th at approximately 1830 hours, members of the Port Moody Police Department attended the Burrard Inlet in response to a report of several overturned kayaks in the water.

Three kayakers were observed in the water after their kayaks had somehow overturned.

While other kayakers in the area began to assist, a Port Moody Police officer commandeered a boat at Rocky Point to get out to the scene.

Between the responding kayakers and PMPD officers, all three kayakers were successfully brought to shore where Port Moody Fire personnel were awaiting along with BCAS paramedics to provide on scene first aid.

The kayakers were transported to Eagle Ridge Hospital to be checked for cold water immersion related issues and were later released.

Alcohol use is believed to have contributed to the incident and none of the kayakers were wearing life jackets.
