So far in 2018 the Port Moody Police have noted an increase of bicycle thefts in the densely populated Newport, Suter Brook and Klahanie neighbourhoods.  This year the Port Moody Police have had 20 bicycles reported stolen as of July 10, 2018, in comparison to 19 stolen all of 2017.

The bicycles are generally being taken from underground parkades during the overnight hours, open carports, and from other areas that are easily accessed by the public.

Stolen bicycles are not only frustrating and disappointing to the owner but also provide easy, quiet and fast transportation to the property criminal.

The Port Moody Police would like to remind everyone to secure their bicycles with suitable bike locks and to report any suspicious behavior to the police immediately.  Should you have your bicycle stolen, please contact the Port Moody Police at 604-461-3456 to report the theft as soon as possible.  Accurately recording your serial number and photographing the bicycle will aid the police in returning your bike, should it be found or tuned in to the police.
