In the summer of 2019, Port Moody Police Community Action Team investigated a drug trafficking operation that was working out of a suite in an apartment tower in Port Moody.  As noted in a previous release, a search warrant was executed at that time and illicit cannabis was seized.

On February 18, 2020, and after continued investigation into this matter was conducted, two more search warrants were executed.  One was at a residence in Burnaby and the other was at a small warehouse in Vancouver. A 37 year old Burnaby man was arrested during the search of the home.

Approximately 9.2 kg of illicit cannabis was located during these searches.  A variety of cannabis products, including pills and edibles, was also found. The combined value of all items seized, including three vehicles and cash, is estimated at $320,000.

Consultation with the Community Safety Unit, the Provincial body responsible for compliance and enforcement under the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act, is ongoing.

Charges have not yet been approved and this matter is still under investigation.

“When purchasing cannabis or cannabis products through unlicensed sources, consumers may be unwittingly supporting organized crime.  They may also be putting themselves at risk by consuming products that are manufactured in unregulated environments.”
