PROPERTY CRIME:

A vehicle was stolen from the parking lot at Eagle Ridge Hospital.  The vehicle was later recovered in Surrey.

Vehicles were broken into on Symmes Bay, Roe Drive, Washington Drive, Walton Way, Aspenwood Drive, Ravine Drive, Ioco Road and Cedarwood Drive.  Thefts from vehicles continue to be a regular problem due to items being left in cars.  If you choose to leave your car unlocked in the hopes of preventing damage to the vehicle and find that someone has rummaged through your vehicle, please contact us as it gives us a better picture of areas being affected and assists us in coordinating our response.

A local car dealership was the victim of multiple thefts as thieves targeted air-bags from vehicles.

ROAD SAFETY:

Sadly, drinking and driving is still problematic and officers dealt with several driving  prohibitions linked with alcohol consumption.

50 tickets were issued.  Extra attention is being paid to school areas due to constant complaints of parents speeding, disregarding traffic control devices and illegally parking during pick-up and drop-off.

ITEMS OF INTEREST:

On October 5, 2015 an officer observed a vehicle being driven in a manner consistent with possible impaired driving.  When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver slowed for a short time only to speed off.  The vehicle then ran a red light and the officer lost sight of the car.  As the officer retraced the possible route of the car he discovered that the vehicle had crashed.  The officer identified the driver and passenger.  The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant.  The passenger was identified as a high-risk sex offender with a Canada wide warrant for breaching parole after failing to return to his half-way house.  No one was injured in the collision.

On October 11, 2015 two women located a firearm around bushes at the Ioco Town site.  The weapon was seized by police for investigation.  It appears that the gun had been exposed to the elements for some time.

Bears are still out and about fattening up for hibernation.  Please be cognizant about your garbage bins.
