File 2022-150:  Police believe road conditions played a role in a collision involving at Translink bus Sunday morning.

On January 9, 2022 at about 10:20 am, Port Moody Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision on Barnet Highway near Reed Point Way.  Port Moody Fire Rescue and British Columbia Ambulance Service were also dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, it was determined the driver of a westbound GMC truck lost control.  The GMC truck flipped onto its roof in the oncoming lanes and collided with a bus travelling eastbound.  As a result, the bus slid into a nearby ditch.  There was one passenger on board the bus, who sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for further evaluation.  The drivers of both vehicles did not report any injuries.

Traffic in the area was affected for some time as the bus was extracted from the ditch by a heavy-duty tow truck.  Initial information suggests slick road conditions played a role in the crash.  “We are thankful that there were no serious injuries resulting from this incident” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding “we have responded to numerous collisions involving road and weather conditions in the past week serving as as reminder for everyone to exercise extra caution on the roadways”.
