During the fall of 2019, the Port Mood Police Department received a number of reports of belongings being stolen from the lockers at the Port Moody Recreation Centre.
Through a review of video related to some of these thefts, two suspects were identified.
On January 30, 2020, these two individuals, a 52 year old male and a 39 year old female, both from Surrey, were placed under surveillance by members of the Port Moody Police Community Action team. They were then arrested when it was believed that they had committed a theft at a recreation centre in Burnaby.
Stolen property was recovered and returned.
Members are working with investigators from other lower mainland police agencies and charges from other jurisdictions are anticipated.
Charges in this matter have not yet been approved and it is still under investigation.
