File 2021-3087 – On June 13, 2021 at approximately 3am, Port Moody Fire Rescue (PMFR) requested Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) to assist at a structure fire on Henry Street near Moody Street.
Upon police arrival, PMFR was already on scene and fighting the fire, which consequentially destroyed two vacant homes under construction. A swift response by PMFR prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures and residences. Power in the neighbourhood was also affected for some time until it could be restored by BC Hydro.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages. However, it is suspected the fire was human-caused. PMPD Major Crimes Section is now taking conduct of the investigation, working collaboratively with PMFR’s Fire Investigator.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has information to call PMPD or Crime Stoppers. Additionally, anyone with dashcam footage or closed-circuit television in the area, on June 13, 2021 between midnight and 3 am, is also asked to contact PMPD.
