Port Moody Police are investigating multiple residential break-ins over the Christmas holidays.

On the evening of December 23, 2023, police responded to two late report break-and-enters at two residences in the Ravine Drive area. Both unoccupied homes were forcibly entered and valuables were stolen. The incidents are believed to have taken place sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and a vehicle of interest has been identified (see still image). The vehicle is believed to be a newer model silver Hyundai Elantra or Toyota Corolla. Police are seeking CCTV and dash camera footage in the neighbourhood at the time of the incident.

In the evening of December 25, police responded to a similar style break-and-enter at a College Park residence. This incident also remains under investigation.

Finally, in the early hours of December 27, police were called to a possible break-in taking place at a residence off Ioco Road. Frontline officers were able to arrest the suspect – a 19-year-old Coquitlam resident who is known to police – after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect had multiple tools in their possession and charges relating to the attempted break-in are being recommended. Of note, this incident is not believed to be linked to the three previous incidents which remain under investigation.

“We are notifying our community of the uptick in these occurrences in hopes that residents and neighbours remain extra vigilant” states Constable Sam Zacharias. “Anyone with information about any of these break-ins is asked to contact us or Crime Stoppers, and please report any suspicious activity to us immediately.”
