Port Moody Police are investigating telephone wire thefts in the old Ioco area of Port Moody.
On January 13, 2025 at around 4 a.m., Port Moody Police frontline officers were called to the area of Ioco Road and First Avenue for a report of cable theft from a telephone pole. Two persons of interest have been identified and the matter remains under investigation.
Over the past year, the Port Moody Police has responded to similar reports of telephone wires being cut including a string of incidents this past Spring:
-April 25, 2024 at about 3 p.m. at Bedwell Bay near Thermal Plant Rd
-April 29, 2024 at about 6 a.m. at Bedwell Bay near Thermal Plant Rd
-May 9, 2024 at about 4:45 a.m. in the 2900 blk of Bedwell Bay Rd
-May 21, 2024 at about 4 a.m. on First Ave near Ioco Road
“These incidents have totalled thousands of dollars in losses and have impacted phone services to the surrounding areas at times” states Constable Sam Zacharias. “We ask that anyone with information contact us and we are also requesting the public remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to us immediately.”
