FILE#: 2020-384
On January 20, 2020 at 5:10 p.m., the Port Moody Police responded to the 2300-block of Clarke Street in Port Moody for a report of a pedestrian struck.
Upon arrival, it was learned that a seven-year-old boy had attempted to cross Clarke Street mid-block after exiting his parents’ vehicle. A westbound vehicle made contact with the boy as he was crossing the westbound lane. The boy was knocked to the ground and sustained facial injuries.
Due to the potential of serious injuries, the Port Moody Police closed the roadway for several hours to investigate the collision. The boy received medical treatment and his injuries were determined to be non-life threatening
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision, however, poor visibility and weather conditions did contribute.
