FILE#: 2019-272
PORT MOODY – On January 16, 2019, the Port Moody Police received a request from an outside agency to check on the well-being of an individual that was believed to be in the Port Moody area.
As the result of our investigation, the Port Moody Police members attended the area of Sasamat Lake on Bedwell Bay road and located an unoccupied vehicle believed to be associated. The two members searched the nearby area and located a female subject in distress in the water approximately 5 meters from shore. One police member removed his duty gear, climbed into the lake, swam to the female and pulled her to safety. Both the officer and female were assisted out of the lake by his partner on shore. The woman was provided with immediate medical aid.
The female was transported by the BC Ambulance service to hospital for treatment.
