FILE# 2019-24
PORT MOODY – On January 2nd, 2019 at approximately 12:05am, Port Moody Police officers attended the area of St Johns Street and Ioco Road, for a report of three young males whom had been bear-sprayed.
Investigation determined the three victims were involved in a verbal dispute with a fourth “unknown” male. During the interaction, the trio was sprayed by a substance believed to be bear-spray. The unknown suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Fortunately the trio was able to decontaminate themselves utilizing water from a nearby store, thus ambulance was not required. Lower Mainland Police Dog Services (K-9) attended and searched the area; however the suspect could not be located. Police also canvassed the area for surveillance footage of the incident with negative results.
Officers notified a parent of one of the males, whom attended the scene and transported all three back to their respective homes. This is believed to be an isolated incident involving a dispute within a small group of individuals.
Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact the Port Moody Police Department or Crime Stoppers (bccrimestoppers.com).
