-Monday evening, an officer conducted a stop on a novice driver violating his restrictions, he was determined to be impaired and was served a 90-day driving prohibition along with an impoundment;
-The same evening, an officer caught a vehicle travelling 154 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Barnet Hwy. The driver faces Motor Vehicle Act charges as well as an impoundment.
“Motorists play a significant role in road safety” states Constable Sam Zacharias, “please remember to slow down, leave the phone alone while driving, and plan a safe ride if your plans involve alcohol or other impairing substances.”
[Of note, the May long weekend is often one of the deadliest weekends on B.C. roadways with an average of 3 fatalities and 455 injuries in nearly 2000 crashes over the weekend, ICBC]
