FILE: 2024-1891 – Port Moody Police are announcing charges against Tsz Wing Boaz Chan (Chan) in relation to a home invasion that took place earlier this year.
On April 28, 2024, just after 8 a.m., Port Moody Police frontline officers responded to a third-party request to check the well-being of a family in a Heritage Woods residence. Upon arrival, multiple victims of a home invasion were located. The victims were treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Since then, Port Moody Police Department’s Major Crime Section has been working tenaciously to advance this complex investigation and as a result, identified Chan – a non-resident of Canada – as a suspect. On July 25, 2024, Chan was arrested, with the assistance of CBSA and Richmond RCMP, while re-entering the country at Vancouver International Airport. A total of 7 charges have been approved against Chan – which include aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and break & enter. He remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 6, 2024.
“This was a targeted and violent home invasion with the objective of stealing cryptocurrency” states Acting Sergeant Sam Zacharias, adding that “the matter is now before the courts but remains an active investigation as we look to identify other suspects.”
