Port Moody Police responded to an unusual burglary early Wednesday morning.

On January 29, 2025, at about 3:45 a.m., the sole occupant of a home called police after hearing someone inside of his Glenayre area house. The caller barricaded himself in a room and awaited police arrival. As police were responding, the intruder reportedly began to scream and cause a disturbance while inside of the residence.

Frontline officers located the suspect inside of the home. The alleged intruder – a 32-year-old male of no fixed address – was arrested and police are in the process of recommending charges.

“It is unclear what the motive of the suspect was or if this home was targeted, but it is certainly concerning that someone entered an occupied home” states Constable Sam Zacharias. “We believe the intruder entered the home through an insecure door and we are reminding the community of the importance of securing your home at all times.”
