FILE: 2024-5535 – Two men are facing a variety of property-related charges after an alleged crime spree in Heritage Mountain last week.

On November 28, 2024 just before 5 a.m., Port Moody Police received a report of two suspicious males possibly attempting to break into parked vehicles in an upper Heritage Mountain neighbourhood. When frontline officers attended the area, they located vehicles with smashed windows [see image from scene] then located & arrested both suspects. The two men remain in custody at this time with their next court appearance scheduled for December 3, 2024.

Numerous items believed to be stolen have been recovered including identification (not in the names of the accused persons), garage door openers, cash, watches, clothing items and sunglasses . Since then, multiple victims have reported thefts from their vehicles and police are in the process of returning stolen items to their rightful owners.

“Thanks to an observant resident, we were able to respond quickly and arrest both suspects” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “incidents like these highlight the importance of removing any valuables from your vehicle when parked”.

Investigators do not believe this incident is related to a residential break-and-enter being investigated in the same area just days prior. Any other potential victims are asked to contact the Port Moody Police Department.
