File: 2024-2025 – Police have arrested two youths after a concerning incident that was captured on video Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday May 7, 2024, the Port Moody Police Department’s Youth Services Section was notified of a video circulating in the community depicting an assault near the Moody Centre Skytrain Station the day prior, at approximately 3:20 p.m.
In the video, two male youths are seen assaulting a female youth while bystanders appear to encourage the attack. Unfortunately, police were not notified at the time of the incident. Frontline officers have since identified the suspects – two 12-year-old male youths who have been arrested and released with conditions. The victim sustained minor injuries and the motive remains unclear however, initial reports indicate the incident was not provoked.
“We are still gathering evidence to support criminal charges” states Constable Sam Zacharias. “Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with us is asked to contact our investigators.”
