PORT MOODY – The Port Moody Police is pleased to announce that Inspector Ken MacDonald was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief Constable for the Port Moody Police Department on June 25, 2018.
Deputy Chief MacDonald joined the Port Moody Police as a Reserve Constable in 1986, and became a full-time member in 1990. Deputy Chief MacDonald has extensive experience in operational policing, and has worked in Patrol, Youth, Major Crime, and the Emergency Response Team.
In the year 2000, Deputy Chief MacDonald was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and spent seven years as a Patrol Watch Commander and one year as Administrative Sergeant. He brings experience from a four-year assignment as a sergeant with the Combine Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU).
In 2014, Deputy Chief MacDonald was promoted to the rank of Inspector where he was the Officer in Charge of Operations, and has filled the role of Acting Deputy Chief Constable since 2015.
Deputy Chief MacDonald has been awarded two Deputy Chief Constable Commendations, and was the recipient of the Central Saanich Police Association Peter John Martin Memorial Award in 1993. Chief Deputy MacDonald is also a graduate of the BCIT Human Resource Management Program.
