UPDATE: the gas is believed to be Carbon Dioxide, not Ammonia as originally believed. Multiple structures remain either sheltered in place or evacuated at this time and the road remains closed.

A collision involving a commercial vehicle has shut down Clarke Road in Port Moody.

On December 24, 2024 at approximately 10:40 a.m., first responders were called to Clarke Road near St Johns Street, for a report of a flipped commercial vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined the truck may be leaking ammonia.

“The road is currently shut down in both directions until further notice” states Constable Sam Zacharias “both drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.”
