On May 15, 2017 at approximately 2115 hours, a Port Moody Police officer observed a grey Dodge Journey make an unusual left turn at the intersection of Murray Street and Ioco Road. This vehicle appeared to be travelling without any headlights or taillights on, despite the dark, rainy conditions.

The officer noted that the out-of-province licence plate was expired and was previously registered to an entirely different vehicle.

A traffic stop was conducted and the occupants denied ownership of the vehicle. Attempts to contact the registered owner were unsuccessful. Due to the circumstances, the officer believed that the vehicle may be stolen. The occupants were arrested and removed from the vehicle without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded the discovery of 10 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition in the center console, and a sawed-off shotgun was located in the rear storage compartment. The investigators also located several items of identification that were determined to not belong to either occupant.

Catlin James HARLOW of Pitt Meadows has been charged with two firearms offences and one count of Possession of another person’s Identity Documents.

The passenger was released without charges.

The vehicle was seized by Police and the ownership is still under investigation.
