Theft from Shoppers Drug Mart

On January 11, 2013 PMPD responded to a report of a shoplifting which had just occurred at the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 3215 St. Johns street.

Two males had just stolen 17 bottles of perfume for a total of over $900.00. One suspect evaded capture but the second male was apprehended a few blocks away near Moody Middle School.

An unfortunate aspect to this theft is that the male brought his 17 month old son along with him and was using the child’s stroller to conceal the stolen property. The accused is a 39 year old male from Surrey who is know to Police for property related offences. The male was arrested and the MCFD were contacted. The male and his son were turned over to the care of the MCFD. Criminal charges are being sought.

Although the Police were unable to locate one male following the theft, they may have a lead in identifying him. Amongst the stolen property concealed in the stroller, Police recovered a notebook which may belong to the other suspect. The notebook contained the male’s name, phone number, court information and what appears to be a “shopping list” of goods to steal – specific colognes, perfumes, medications and a list of Shoppers drug mart & Safeway stores from Port Moody to Vancouver.

The investigation into the second male is ongoing.
