Woman with shotgun on Angela Drive

On January 11, 2013 at approximately 1620 hours the PMPD responded to a report of a woman on a balcony brandishing a shotgun in the 200 Block of Angela Drive.

While en route to the call, officers received further information that the female had been yelling at two females in a vehicle and may have pointed the shotgun at them. The vehicle had left and the woman went back into her residence.

Due to the serious nature of the call, officers shut down all traffic in and around the area and set containment up around the house. The officers were able to make verbal commands for the occupant to exit the residence without the firearm.

The 47 year old woman exited the residence without further incident and was taken into custody for Pointing a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm. A search of the residence located a black 12 gauge shotgun under the bed in the master bedroom. The woman’s 25 year old daughter claimed ownership of the firearm. The shotgun has been seized by Police for public safety.

It is believed that the entire incident stems from an ongoing family dispute.

The accused was taken to the PMPD cell block and later taken to hospital under Section 28 of the Mental Health Act. The female was released on a Promise to Appear.

“Every family has arguments and disagreements, but to get to the point where you’re pointing a shotgun at someone goes beyond rational thinking. Everyone involved is quite fortunate this incident didn’t end tragically.”
