Zhang Family Letter

August 7, 2012

The Zhang family expresses their deepest appreciation for successfully locating their daughter, Joy.  Joy was missing for 76hrs in Sasamat Lake park.  The family feels that given 1% of the necessary information, the searchers gave 100% effort.  They were profoundly moved by the amount of concern that poured out from the community and who searched for Joy as though she was their own daughter.

They would like to thank:

The Port Moody Police, who co-ordinated search efforts, and then came in on their own time to keep searching.

The Search and Recue Teams from Coquitlam, Burnaby, North Vancouver and Surrey, who put so much skilled manpower and resources out on the trails.

The Challenger Baseball Team, coach John Casey and Rachel Le Nobel, whose team, extended family and friends all joined in with the professional searchers.

The many members for the Public, Churches and community at large who joined in walking the trails,  in prayers, and brought their homemade food for the searchers and the family.

Joy's friend, Judy, who was able to give good information to the ATV team who ended up finding Joy.

To Connie Deboer, who's voice reached Joy, and to whom Joy answered, "I'm here!"

The Port Moody Victim Services Co-ordinator, who supported the family during this extraordinarily difficult time.

There is a very successful outcome for everyone's efforts.  Joy was checked into hospital and released in remarkably good health and good spirits.  She is recovering with her family.
