Joint PMPD – CVSE Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

CITY OF PORT MOODY/PORT MOODY POLICE DEPARTMENT

On February 9th 2012 the Port Moody Police conducted a Joint Forces Commercial Vehicle inspection in the 3000 block of St. Johns Street Port Moody.

With the assistance of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement members, New Westminster Police, Delta Police and the Coquitlam RCMP, over 40 commercial vehicles were pulled over and screened for safety violations.

In 3.5 hours of inspections, fifteen violation tickets were issued and sixteen separate vehicles had defects identified, including;

  • Insecure cargo,
  • Operating while over their licence Gross Vehicle weight,
  • Insufficient cargo securement,
  • Inoperative lamps,
  • Air Brake System leaks and,
  • Tire defects.

These vehicles were either towed or repaired at the roadside before being permitted to depart.
One male was arrested on several outstanding arrest warrants and one driver was issued a
twenty-four hour prohibition for Drugs.
